I bought a house today.

I also bought a tuxedo for Quan and definitely almost got stung by a bee, not in that order.

I decided to splurge on a $25 bottle of decent Champagne only to realize, upon delivery, that what I’d bought was a really big bottle of shitty Champagne.

Closing on a house you’ve never been to and are unable to get to due to a global pandemic when you’ve decided to sell a home you love is bittersweet. The house is exactly what I was looking for and its in the small stretch of blocks I preferred. I’m excited. It’s just that I’m exhausted, too.

I’ve made a list of all of the furniture in my current Richmond residence and am cutting and pasting each piece into lists titled “Richmond,” “San Diego,” and “Don’t need.” I plan on coming to Richmond with my family as soon as possible but have no idea when that will be.

I got Quan’s tuxedo from an etsy shop called Buddy’s Bandanas ‘n Bows. Quan closely resembles Theodore, a terror of a dog who had my heart. Theodore named Buddy when I picked him up from the prison where he was being cared for by an inmate named Jim who had made him a bandana that said Buddy. Quan’s original name was Peanut.

Quan’s tuxedo is for the wedding. Covid has slowed down our plans but Amir and I are still getting married on October 3. I don’t know who else will be in attendance but Quan will look sharp af.

I feel like that sounded like I’m feeling sorry for myself. I’m not, not really.

Aubrey lost his second front tooth in the night last night so
a) He looks adorable and
b) I will have to stumble into his bedroom later one extra large bottle of champagne deep and deliver cash that I’m not sure I have without permanently scarring the children who will confuse me with a zombie, not that I did that a few nights ago.
